These mozzarella sticks — gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside — are paired with a barbecue sauce–based dipping sauce that’s kicked up with a Cajun twist. They’re perfect for your next party or gathering! Mozzarella sticks can be made in advance and cooked the day of for easy entertaining.
| ¼ cup | all-purpose flour |
| 1 tsp | dried Italian seasoning |
| ½ tsp | salt |
| 1 | egg |
| ½ cup | panko bread crumbs |
| 8 | string-style mozzarella cheese sticks, halved widthwise |
| Vegetable oil, for frying | |
| ½ cup | barbecue sauce |
| 2 Tbsp | Louisiana Hot Sauce - Cajun Heat |
In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, Italian seasoning and salt.
In a second shallow bowl, whisk an egg.
Transfer panko to a third shallow bowl.
Dredge cheese sticks in flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip into egg, then roll in bread crumbs until evenly coated. Arrange in a single layer on a parchment paper–lined baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour.
In a large high-sided skillet set over medium heat, pour in oil to reach 1/2 inch up on the sides. Add cheese sticks and cook, turning occasionally, for 3 to 5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Arrange on a serving platter.
In a small bowl, stir together barbecue sauce and The Original “Louisiana” Brand Hot Sauce™ Cajun Heat. Serve with cheese sticks.
Tip: If desired, use string-style cheddar cheese sticks.
