Infused with Smoked Chipotle hot sauce, this Mexican-inspired burger is loaded up with grilled jalapeños, sharp (old) Cheddar cheese and quick-pickled red onion — and slathered with a chipotle sour cream! — for the ultimate grilled summer burger that’s sure to get a two thumbs-up!

Ultimate Smoked Chipotle Cheeseburger

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1½ lbs lean ground beef
3 tbsp Louisiana Hot Sauce - Smoked Chipotle
1½ tsp salt, divided
½ tsp black pepper
½ red onion, thinly sliced
¼ tsp lime juice
2 large jalapeño peppers, halved and seeded
4 slices sharp (old) Cheddar cheese
4 brioche buns, split
½ cup sour cream
1 cup arugula
1 avocado, halved, pitted, peeled and sliced

Directions

  • 1

In small bowl, stir together onion, lime juice and remaining salt. Let stand for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly pickled.

  • 2

In medium bowl, mix together ground beef, 2 tbsp The Original Louisiana Brand® Hot Sauce Smoked Chipotle, 1 tsp salt and black pepper. Divide mixture into 4 portions and roll each a ball. Shape into 1/2-inch-thick patties.

  • 3

Meanwhile, preheat grill to medium-high heat; grease grates well. Grill jalapeños, turning occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes or until grill-marked and tender. Slice into strips.

  • 4

Meanwhile, grill burgers, flipping once, for 12 to 16 minutes or until cooked through and instant-read thermometer registers 160°F when inserted into thickest part of burger. Top each with Cheddar and grill for 30 to 60 seconds or until cheese is starting to melt.

  • 5

Grill buns for 30 to 60 seconds or until lightly toasted.

  • 6

In another small bowl, stir together sour cream and remaining hot sauce. Spread chipotle sour cream over toasted buns. Assemble burgers in buns with arugula, grilled jalapeños, pickled onion and avocado.

Tip: Substitute brioche buns with regular burger buns or kaiser buns if preferred.
