This simple but decadent creamy soup is a comforting and satisfying dish for a starter or dinner entrée.
2 tbsp | butter |
3 | cloves garlic, minced |
1 | onion, diced |
1½ lbs | boneless skinless chicken breasts |
½ tsp | salt |
½ tsp | black pepper |
5 cups | chicken broth |
¼ cup | The Original Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce |
1 lb | store-bought gnocchi |
1 cup | heavy or whipping (35%) cream |
1 tbsp | Dijon mustard |
1½ cups | shredded Cheddar cheese |
2 tbsp | finely chopped fresh chives |
Grease inner pot of slow cooker with butter.
Add garlic, onion, chicken, salt and pepper to slow cooker. Pour in chicken broth and 3 Tbsp hot sauce. Stir to coat.
Cover and cook on LOW, stirring occasionally, for 3 hours or until chicken is tender and cooked through. Transfer chicken to cutting board; using two forks, shred chicken. Return to slow cooker.
Add gnocchi, cream and mustard to slow cooker. Stir to coat. Cover and cook on LOW for 30 to 60 minutes or until gnocchi are tender.
Divide soup among 6 bowls. Top with cheese. Garnish with chives and drizzle with remaining hot sauce.
Tip: Serve with bread for dipping.
